Problems we solve
Drainage and plumbing failures come in many forms. Our engineers are equipped for all of them.
-
Blocked kitchen drain
Grease, fat and food debris accumulate in kitchen waste pipes and build into solid blockages that standing water cannot shift. Our engineers use high-pressure jetting to cut through the grease column and restore full flow quickly.
Book a drain unblocking -
Blocked outside drain
Outside gullies and inspection chambers block with leaves, soil and debris — especially after heavy rain. Left untreated they cause sewage to back up into the property, so fast action is essential.
Book outside drain clearance -
Collapsed sewer pipe
Root intrusion, ground movement and age can fracture or fully collapse underground sewer pipes — causing persistent blockages that jetting alone cannot clear. A CCTV drain survey gives you a precise diagnosis and repair plan.
Book a CCTV drain survey -
No hot water or heating
Boiler lockouts, failed diverter valves and sludge-blocked heating circuits are common causes of sudden heating failure. Our Gas Safe registered engineers diagnose the fault and carry common replacement parts to fix most breakdowns in a single visit.
Book a heating engineer -
Burst or leaking pipe
A burst pipe can release hundreds of litres per hour and cause serious structural damage within minutes. Our emergency plumbers prioritise pipe failures and can isolate supplies and effect a permanent repair in most cases on the same visit.
Book an emergency plumber -
Slow bath or shower drain
Hair and soap-scum accumulation creates a partial blockage that slows drainage over weeks until water starts pooling. Cleared early with professional jetting equipment it is a quick job — left too long and the blockage can extend into shared stack pipes.

What to expect from your engineer visit
When your engineer arrives they will introduce themselves, show their ID and walk you through what they are going to do before touching anything. All Drains Cleared engineers wear clean overshoes indoors and use protective sheeting around the work area — your home is treated with respect throughout.
The first step is always a diagnosis. For drain blockages this typically involves a visual inspection of accessible gullies and inspection chambers. For more complex problems the engineer may deploy a CCTV survey camera to pinpoint root intrusion, pipe deformation or structural failure underground — giving you a precise repair plan rather than repeated reactive callouts.
Once the diagnosis is complete, your engineer will explain the findings in plain English and provide a written fixed-price quote before any work begins. You are under no obligation to proceed, and there is no call-out charge if you decide not to go ahead. If you are happy, work starts immediately — the vast majority of standard drain blockages are cleared in a single visit lasting 45 to 90 minutes.
On completion you receive a job sheet detailing the work carried out, materials used and the duration of your written guarantee. For insurance or landlord purposes this document can be emailed to you on the day.
Why Drains Cleared?
Three things that genuinely separate us from the rest of the market.
-
60-minute emergency response
Our target for urgent callouts is 60 minutes in most urban postcodes across England and Wales. When water is coming through your ceiling or sewage is backing up into the house, minutes genuinely matter. We maintain live engineer availability around the clock — including Christmas Day, Bank Holidays and the middle of the night — so there is always someone ready to dispatch. Rural response times may be longer, but we will always give you an honest ETA before the call ends.

Vetted, insured engineers
Every engineer in our network passes identity verification, qualification checks and insurance confirmation before they are ever dispatched to a customer property. We accept no self-reported credentials — documentation is verified directly. Engineers carry public liability insurance of at least £2 million, and Gas Safe registration is confirmed for any work involving gas appliances. You will never receive an unannounced subcontractor; the engineer we name on your booking confirmation is the engineer who arrives.

Fixed-price quotes
You see the price before work starts — every time, without exception. There are no hidden call-out charges added retrospectively, no hourly-rate surprises when the job runs over and no material uplifts tacked onto the invoice. The figure your engineer writes on the quote sheet is the figure you sign for and the figure you pay at the end. If the scope of work changes — for example if a collapsed pipe section is discovered during a clearance — we pause, explain and requote before proceeding.
